Bruce is an El Paso native. Due to his medical needs, he decided to make his home at TLC Animal Hospital, where he enjoys hanging out with the pharmacy technicians and trying to steal people's food in the break room. His special skills include dive bombing lunch plates, knocking over trash cans to see if there's food inside, and modeling embarrassing outfits.
Simon started life at TLC Animal Hospital after being found as a stray at a local restaurant. He had severe dental disease, frost bite, and was skin and bones (only 4 pounds!). Despite his rough exterior, he definitely had a heart of gold, purring the entire car ride to the hospital. After having his wounds treated, several dental procedures, treatment for inflammatory bowel disease, and a brief bout of diabetes, Simon is now (finally!) happy and healthy. He’s great friends with Rocky, and they frequently engage in wrestling matches and competition for the best napping spots. Simon is shy, so he mostly hangs out with Rocky and the rest of the staff in the back. If you do see him, be sure not to give in to any begging for treats – he’s on a special diet.
In his words: “Before I came to live at TLC Animal Hospital, I used to live with one of their clients. I roamed the outdoors and was constantly a victim to mosquitoes (I have the scars to prove it as I’m highly allergic to mosquito bites). After many trips to the vet, I realized it was time to become my worst nightmare: an indoor cat. Luckily the humans at TLC Animal Hospital took me in; it was the least they could do. I now wander the clinic like John Wayne supervising all day. My other activities include eating whatever I can find, sneaking into empty carriers, and taking naps in the most inconvenient places. I will invade you and your pet’s personal space at times, so don’t be alarmed if you see me when you come to visit. Feel free to give me treats and scratch my belly. Just don’t tell the humans, it can be our little secret. PS: Don’t really give me treats. I’m on a strict diet and Bikini season is coming! Thanks!”
Dances started his life with us as a stray kitten that was brought in after being hit by a car. He had a spinal injury and is not able to use his back legs. This doesn't slow him down much though. He scoots around on his rear end or strolls in his wheel chair, climbs cat trees, and has figured out how to climb drawer handles to get on the counter. He's training as a parkour Paralympian :). His favorite things are food, snuggling under blankets, and hanging out with his buddy Bruce.
Finn is a greyhound/saluki mix who was adopted from a rescue in Texas by Dr. Dashley. He was originally found with a severely broken front leg, which had to be amputated while at the rescue. He's shy, but super sweet. He enjoys attention, lounging in his kiddy pool, running around and playing with his toys, and napping on the couch. When there is a dog in need, he answers the call like a true hero and serves as a blood donor.
Bree is a greyhound who flunked out of racing school and was adopted from a greyhound rescue by Dr. Dashley. Turns out she is much more skilled at being a pampered pet than a track star. Despite her regal exterior, she is a big ol' goof ball who loves wrestling with her adopted brothers, running around the yard, and taking naps in uncomfortable looking positions. She likes giving back by donating blood when needed - mostly for the big bowl of canned food she gets, but it still counts!
